SmartSump(TM) Crawl Space Sump Pump

SmartSump(TM) is the first custom-engineered sump pump system explicitly designed for crawl spaces.

What It Does

Crawl spaces create unique challenges for homeowners. Their damp, cool, musty characteristics cause many problems in homes, including mold, odors, and weak wood floor joists. Lining the crawlspace with a liner like Cleanspace is necessary to encapsulate the space and seal moisture out. When doing that, special considerations should be taken when choosing a sump pump to ensure it can detect plumbing leaks and allow the liner to be tucked under the lid in an airtight manner.

To solve these issues, Thrasher installs the SmartSump(TM) Crawl Space Sump Pump System. It is unique in several ways, including a special lid and water alarm, a unique shape, and a flange allowing a crawl space liner to be tucked under the cover. This sump pump system also includes many other important features that should be part of any sump pump system, including a high-water alarm, airtight floor drain, efficient pump, and quiet operation. It also needs to be powerful enough to keep up during heavy rains.

Without a reliable sump pump, moisture and water under a vapor barrier can cause the tape to become unsealed and flooding to occur. Crawl spaces are also a common place for pipes to be run. If you have a plumbing leak anywhere else in your house, you will notice it right away. In a crawl space, plumbing leaks can go undetected for months at a time. The unique SmartSump(TM) lid design and high-water alarm alert you to plumbing leaks or problems with your sump pump.

The SmartSump(TM) Crawl Space Sump Pump is equipped with a cast-iron Zoeller sump pump, a reliable liner, a sump alarm, and an optional battery backup sump pump. It's precisely what you need to ensure a dry crawl space all the time!

The SmartSump(TM) has a unique lid that accepts the Cleanspace(R) liner for a snug seal. Also, any water from a plumbing leak must first pass by the alarm and then drain down into the sump. The alarm will sound, so you know you have a leak in your crawl space.

A Reliable Crawl Space Sump Pump & Liner

Crawl spaces without sump pumps often remain wet for days, weeks, and even months without the homeowner realizing there's a water problem. With the SmartSump(TM) Crawl Space Sump Pump, you have the comfort of knowing you're protected.

Along with a cast-iron Zoeller(R) sump pump, your system includes a floor drain to collect water from plumbing leaks and a WaterWatch(R) sump pump alarm that will sound off to notify you of water in the crawl space. Our optional battery backup sump pump can be included, pumping out more than 11,500 gallons of water on a single charge for maximum protection.

The SmartSump(TM) Crawl Space Sump Pump is fully compatible with our complete crawl space vapor barrier system. If you have no groundwater concerns but would still like to be protected from plumbing leaks, you may also want to consider our crawl space SmartDrain. This gives you the floor drain and alarm, but without the pump for groundwater. This way, you don't get flooded from a plumbing leak.

Both the SmartSump(TM) and SmartDrain are airtight and compatible with a crawlspace liner. Not only does the airtight system keep moisture from getting into your living space, but it will help seal radon gas out as well. If the radon levels are high enough, a crawlspace depressurization system should be installed. In that case, it can be installed into the sump lid or directly through the liner without modifications needing to be done to the sump system itself.
