Thrasher’s 2019 Leadership Immersion Class Sets the Bar High for Years to Come

Each year, a handful of Thrasher employees are selected for Leadership Immersion. As leaders of our community, we have an obligation to return the blessings we’ve been given. This program is designed to accelerate personal and professional growth while exploring Thrasher’s culture and applying key leadership principles on which Thrasher was built. This year’s class gave back to Rejuvenating Women.

Rejuvenating Women is a nonprofit organization with a mission to bring hope and peace to those effected by human trafficking. Along with educating the community on human trafficking, RW has a free, two-year program for traumatized victims. According to their website, this program offers “individual and group therapy, case management, mentorship, legal services, tattoo branding removal, equine therapy, occupational therapy services, life-skills classes, and comprehensive medical care.”

Our 2019 Leadership Immersion class was able to raise $33,895 for RW, beating the 2018 leadership immersion class by $16,370.53! Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to this year’s leadership immersion class.

Leadership Immersion meant more to me than I ever knew possible. It means I work for a company that not only believes in me, invests in me, puts their trust in me, but they also challenge me to grow personally and professionally.

How did leadership immersion help you develop professionally?

Leadership immersion helped me see the bigger picture. It taught me how to be a better leader and provided insight on how to be a successful manager, team player, and a more understanding person.

Ren Flickinger

“Internal struggle within a team is inevitable, but necessary to achieve meaningful goals.”

What does leadership immersion mean to you?

Leadership Immersion teaches you what it takes to be a leader. You learn how to lead people, how different personalities make up an organization, and how to come together as a team to make decisions.

How did leadership immersion help you develop professionally?

My growth was rooted in how to handle conflict within a team. I learned a ton about the dysfunctions of a team. There is an element of trust that every team needs to have; without it, you can’t gain the results you want. I learned the most about how to build trust and how to have healthy conflict with those I work with.

What advice would you give to those who may be interested in leadership immersion?

If you’re serious about leadership – then it’s a no brainer. Be prepared to be challenged! This program will not only help you develop as a leader, but will also help you create more meaningful relationships within your team, the organization, and outside these walls.

I was able to read Dr. Henry Cloud’s book on boundaries, which in turn, made it more exciting to see him as the guest speaker at the Supportworks conference. Overall, this program has helped me personally, professionally and has allowed me to focus on my career.

What advice would you give to those who may be interested in leadership immersion?

I would recommend everyone to go for it. I believe no matter what, you’ll walk away with something that leads to personal growth and a greater esteem towards this company.
