If you have a dirt crawl space, you have a problem. Dirt crawl spaces, even those without standing water, allow moisture into your home and cause mold, rot, and uneven temperatures. In many cases, water enters through the foundation walls and causes even more problems. Every dirt crawl space should be updated with a vapor barrier and dehumidification system.

For crawl spaces that have standing water, part of keeping your crawl space dry involves a sump pump. But not all sump pumps are made in a way that will work in a crawl space. The state-of-the-art SmartSump is designed just for crawl spaces. The liner and lid are designed to form a tight seal around the CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation liner. It also has a shape that will fit through smaller crawl space doors.

SaniDry Sedona Dehumidification SystemHow "smart" is SmartSump? Since you don't go into your crawl space a lot, you need to know if there is a plumbing leak. The SmartSump has a unique lid design, so water from a plumbing leak fills an alarm pocket on the lid first, sounding a WaterWatch alarm. From there, the water flows down a special airtight floor drain that lets water down, but damp air cannot come up into your crawl space. The alarm also alerts you to pump or power failures.

SmartSump comes standard with a 1/3 horsepower Zoeller pump that can pump over 2,220 gallons per hour. This high-quality pump can handle the rigors of pumping rainwater to prevent a flood from under your crawl space liner or discharge water from a plumbing leak on top of your liner until you can get a plumber to fix your leak. This all sits under an airtight list to keep the crawlspace from having higher moisture levels.

Optional Battery Backup Protection

The optional UltraSump battery back-up pumping system has a second pump in case of primary pump failure, a second switch in case of a switch failure, and a second power source in case of power failure. The UltraSump can pump out over 12,000 gallons of water from the secondary power source on a single charge. That secondary power source is a special 120 amp sealed power pack specifically for environments like a crawl space. A charger keeps it charged when the power is on, and an alarm will tell you when the UltraSump is operating. The UltraSump is optional but highly recommended.

Crawl Space Dehumidification

Once a crawl space is encapsulated, and a sump pump is installed, it is recommended that a dehumidifier be installed to condition the air in the crawl space. An appropriate dehumidifier should have a high volume blower to move air around the entire crawl space and should have an automatic drain so that you don't have to get into the crawlspace every day to empty it. The SmartSump comes with a standard knockout for a dehumidifier condensation line.

This allows a dehumidifier like a SaniDry to drain directly into the SmartSump and automatically have the water pumped away.

The combination of a crawl space liner, dehumidifier, and SmartSump crawl space system is a combination that will get you the results that you want. A clean, dry crawlspace that will lead to a safer, more comfortable home.

SmartSump is a sump pump system that is designed specifically for crawl spaces. The liner and lid are designed to form a tight seal around the CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation liner.
