Foundation Repair, basement waterproofing, and concrete repair in Wichita, KS.

Wichita is an American city in the truest sense. Our town has been a center of frontier trade, a landmark locale for aviation development, and a state-wide industrial hub since our incorporation in 1870 and before. We at Thrasher Foundation Repair are proud to serve this lovely enclave, providing the very best services in foundation repair in Wichita as well as basement waterproofing, concrete repair, and more. In a nation that prides itself on growth and innovation, yet still makes efforts to remember the past, our city’s transition from “Cowtown” to the “Air Capital of the World” continues to bring us pride. And of course, there’s still plenty of Cowtown around if you’re looking for it.

Like many western towns born of the mid-19th century American frontier, Wichita grew around the confluence of two rivers, the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers. The history of the area is rife with human activity dating back to roughly 3,000 B.C., including the native American tribe from which the city derives its name - the Wichita people. Trader Jesse Chisholm established a trading post along the banks of the Arkansas during the Civil War, planting the seeds for what would become a central trading hub in the post-war years. Texans drove their cattle north towards the critical rail junction of Wichita, which hosted no less than eight railways for this purpose as of 1915. These same railroads allowed for an influx of travelers and hopeful settlers, who soon discovered oil deposits in nearby Butler county. With a population that grew ten-fold from 1880 to 1910, and the money flowing from the oil deposits, it wasn’t long before the burgeoning aviation industry flocked to Wichita’s flat grounds to advance the science of flight.

As your local concrete repair, basement waterproofing, and foundation repair experts, we’re proud to offer our city the very best services in the business. Wichita lies in the middle of an unobstructed floodplain and straddles two rivers with a history of flooding. Pairing the city’s location with cold, harsh winters and heavy spring and fall rains, there’s always a chance for damage to your basement, crawl space, driveway, sidewalks and more. Thrasher Foundation Repair has been Wichita’s go-to service provider for all sorts of home repairs and improvements, from concrete leveling to raising settled foundations. Expert concrete leveling and repair services in Wichita

Concrete Lifting and Leveling Wichita
Concrete lifting and leveling in Wichita is a specialty of Thrasher Foundation Repair.

Concrete is a primary building material in any contemporary city. While concrete is a strong, resilient structural element, even the strongest constructions are prone to all manner of degradation over time. In Wichita, we are no stranger to harsh, cold winters. Whether it’s your driveway, a residential street, or the foundation of your home, freezing and thawing cycles rank among the top causes of concrete fatigue and degradation in our area. Our soil is a clay-primary loam, known for swelling when exposed to excess moisture. With that in mind, winter and the spring thaw are particularly harsh on our concrete constructions throughout Wichita.

If you’re experiencing sinking or chipped sidewalks, cracks in concrete basement walls, or a sinking driveway, we can help! Thrasher Foundation Repair is your local concrete lifting and leveling contractor, offering nearly 50 years of experience in the business. Our teams of trained professionals are equipped with the knowledge and top-flight equipment to get the job done right, the first time.

Local basement waterproofing experts in Wichita

Basement Waterproofing in Wichita
Thrasher has years of experience carrying out
basement waterproofing in Wichita, making sure
your home's basement never looks like this again.

If you’re a homeowner, then you know how important it is to keep your basement dry. Moisture infiltration into the basement of your home can cause damage of all sorts, from mold growth to cracking and decay of concrete walls and floors. Wichita has no real topographical features to impede the coming and going of storms, and we’re used to some serious thunderstorms during the middle months of the year. Historically, these storms have been a frequent cause of flooding, with the earliest recorded event occurring in 1867. Major floods have followed periods of heavy rain at decade-intervals since then, and have continued to be an issue to this day. While we haven’t experienced anything like the 1904 flood, where some 30-percent of Wichita was submerged by flooding from the Little Arkansas River and Chisolm Creek, water can still be a constant pressure on your home and its foundation.

That’s where we come in. Thrasher Foundation Repair is Kansas’s premier basement waterproofing contractor, offering decades of local experience in the field. We know our city and its people, and have the right products and solutions to cater to any need. We install sump pumps, build drainage systems, line walls with moisture barriers, and more. If there’s a Wichita basement that needs waterproofing, then we’re the right folks to call!

We offer no-cost, no-obligation basement waterproofing inspection and service estimates across Kansas. Contact us today to schedule yours!

We offer the following basement waterproofing products and solutions:

  • Interior drainage systems
  • Dehumidifiers

Lasting foundation repair services in Wichita

Foundation repair in Wichita
Foundation Repair in Wichita is expertly carried out by Thrasher
Foundation Repair, leaving your home safely repaired,
and providing you peace of mind.

Foundations - the backbone of any structure. A home’s foundation is the first component built in the construction process and is the most important for the long-term health of any building. A damaged or stressed foundation can cause tilting chimneys, cracks near windows and door frames, sinking floors, and a general loss of structural integrity.

Causes for such issues are varied, possibly including settlement, heave, and simple decay from time under pressure. Wichita’s soil is primarily clay-based, which is a prime candidate for causing heave. Clay soil expands when exposed to excess water over time, and returns to its original density during dry spells, which can lead to significant uplift pressures followed by the creation of vacuous areas of soil beneath your home’s foundation.

Whatever the cause, Thrasher Foundation Repair has the expertise to tackle any challenging situation when it comes to foundation repair services in Wichita. Using the best tools and products in the business, our experts will customize a solution to fit your needs exactly.

Crawl space repair & encapsulation experts in Wichita

Not a basement but more than a simple slab, a crawl space isn’t somewhere you’re likely to enjoy spending much time in. While your crawl space may not be the focal point of your home, it is an area with a disproportionate responsibility for the overall health of the structure.

Wet, dirty, pest-ridden crawl spaces are a source of poor air quality, a safe haven for mold growth, and a danger to the long-term strength of your home. One may spend little time thinking about the space between their floor and the earth, and you can’t blame them - other issues, like cracks in walls, present themselves in a more obvious fashion that calls for immediate attention.

Thrasher Foundation Repair believes, and our decades of experience in crawl space repair and encapsulation supports our belief, that a healthy crawl space is a healthy home. With our products and expert installation process, we can effectively encapsulate and repair any crawl space, ensuring long-term strength, stability, and cleanliness in your home. We’ll support sagging floors, clean neglected crawl spaces, and provide you with steady peace of mind. When you know your crawl space has been taken care of, that’s one less thing to weigh on you as you go about your daily life.

We offer free estimates for clients in the Wichita area and throughout Kansas.

Our crawl space repair system includes:

  • Crawl space vapor barrier
  • Crawl space insulation
  • Crawl space support posts
  • Crawl space dehumidifiers

Job Stories From Wichita, KS
Basement Encapsulation in Wichita, KS

Becky was experiencing humidity in the crawlspace and was worried about mold coming back in the basement. Becky reached out to Thrasher because she had been looking for a well reviewed and reputable company. System Design Specialist, Trenton Songster, came out to meet with her. Trenton did his inspection and found there was no water coming into the basement, but did have a damp crawlspace underneath along with an add on kitchen  that was causing high humidity levels in the entire basement. To control the soil moisture in the crawlspace, we used our CleanSpace encapsulation. This sealed off the soil and blocked moisture from getting into the basement. There is no doubt Becky has peace of mind of her home.

Wall Support in Wichita, KS

This family takes a lot of pride in their home want to ensure everything is in good order for many years to come. They were worried about their basement wall moving, and being a past Thrasher customer, they wanted us back out. Specialist, James Menden, came out to meet with them. During his inspection, he found the basement was showing signs of deflection. With these findings, he went back to the family with a solution. James proposed to install PowerBraces as they were particular about their yard. They loved this solution and we sent out our installation team. They loved the system and now have the peace of mind their basement walls won't cave in.

Concrete Settlement Repair in Wichita, KS

Heather and her family were noticing their concrete sidewalk sinking. Their main concern was the tripping hazard this created for their kids who spend a lot of time playing out front. They had heard of Thrasher and our reputation, and gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Trenton Songster, came out to meet with them. Trenton did his inspection and found the concrete has settled due to the intense drought we had this year. When the clay soil that is beneath the concrete gets hot and dry it shrinks. The heavy concrete will settle into the void beneath causing cracks and creating tripping hazards. Trenton took these findings back to Heather with a solution. To address the settled concrete we installed our expanding foam, PolyLevel, beneath the concrete. This helps raise and stabilize the concrete. We then sealed the joints and cracks to prevent any more washout. The family was impressed with the look of the driveway, and we know they have peace of mind for the safety of their kids.

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

This homeowner wanted to make sure the concrete doesn't continue to become uneven and creating tripping hazards. They had us out previously for another job, so they knew our solutions worked. System Design Specialist, Brad Metzger, came out to meet with them. He did his inspection and found there was a slab of the front drive that has settled due to soil erosion and was causing a tripping hazard for the family. He took these findings and came back to the family with a solution. We injected PolyLevel under the slab to raise and level the slab back out. To seal the joints we used NexusPro, which helps prevent water from getting under the slab. The homeowner loved this solution, and are happy the trip hazard is taken care in their drive.

Wall Bowing Repair in Derby, KS

This family was nervous about the wall bowing. They wanted to get all repairs done before retirement so they could spend their money on wants instead of needs. Their neighbors advised that Thrasher was the best option, they were pleased with our service so they encouraged Terry to give us a call. System Design Specialist, Trip Randolph, came out to meet with them. Trip did his inspection, and found the walls were bowing and had almost 3 inches of deflection. He took these findings and came back to the homeowners with a solution. We were able to use our Geo-Lock wall anchors to stabilize the walls for them. These are wall plates that had a rod going out into the yard horizontally, to help straighten the wall back out over time. There is no doubt they have the peace of mind they need for their home.

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

Trey was experiencing some minor concrete concerns, and did not want to have any tripping hazards arise. He knew of Thrasher and work we do and stand behind, so he gave us a call. System Design Specialist, James Menden, came out to meet with him. James did his inspection, and found they had a bit of settlement on the driveway and areas of the garage. This was being caused by washout, when the dirt beneath the slab washes away from water getting to it. James took these findings and came back to Trey with a solution. James proposed we install PolyLevel to relevel the concrete and stabilize it, and NexusPro to seal all the joints. Both of these products are waterproof, so they help prevent any further washout. Trey loved this solution and we sent out our installation team. There is no doubt they have the peace of mind they need without worrying about any more tripping hazards.

Garage Repair in Wichita, KS

Jean called Thrasher out to look at her settled garage floor. She was worried about the tripping hazard the cracks and settled concrete in the garage were causing. After trying to cover the problem areas for years with carpet, she decided it was time to take care of the issue the right way. Jean is local Wichita resident and wanted to use the company she could trust the most with her home. She read great reviews about how respectful Thrasher employees are while providing work in customers homes. She gave a call and System Design Specialist, Trenton Songster, came out to meet with him. Trenton did his inspection and found the drought we had over this past couple years was causing the clay soil to crack and shrink. This left large voids where the soil settled. The heavy concrete in her garage continued to settle nearly 6 inches and became a hazard to walk on and park a car in. To fix the problem, Trenton proposed we install our Polylevel foam through small holes drilled into the concrete. We were able to lift the garage a full 6 inches, bringing it completely back to the original level it was at when it was first poured 50 years ago. Jean also wanted her driveway worked on to fill the voids. Jean was so happy with the finished product. She is happy if she is puts her home up on the market she can get the most out of it.

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

This new homeowner in Wichita, KS had just bought his new home a few weeks before calling Thrasher. He wanted to get a few places on his driveway straightened up before he got all moved in and settled. This driveway had a few spots that had settled creating a tripping hazard, as well as creating an annoying bump that he had to drive over before entering his garage. After having us come out and look at his driveway, he loved the information we gave him about how we could help and was confident our crew would get the job done right.

The team found that the soil underneath the concrete had begun to wash out due to water getting under the concrete. We decided to use our PolyLevel Foam to fill the voids and lift the concrete back into its original place. This foam expands to lift and support the slab without adding any extra weight to the soil underneath.

Our customer can now feel safe about moving into his new home without any tripping hazards or dealing with the annoying bump before his garage entry. He was extremely satisfied with the work done and couldn't thank us enough.

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

A homeowner in Wichita, KS noticed the front porch steps of their home were starting to settle and sink away from the porch. After a few months had passed, he noticed the steps had gotten significantly worse and began to crack around where the sinking points were. He hated the way it was making his home look and was concerned about it being a tripping hazard. After hearing great things about Thrasher from his friends, he decided to give us a call and help him with his concrete problem.

Upon inspection of the steps, our crew found the soil under the concrete slabs had washed out causing the steps to sink and crack. The team decided to use PolyLevel to lift the steps back to their original place. PolyLevel is a foam that expands to lift and support slabs without adding extra weight to the load-bearing soils underneath. It is also waterproof, which means it won't wash out and cause the same problem as before.

This customer was very pleased with the outcome, and the new look of the steps and front of his home.

Foundation and Porch Repair in Wichita, KS

This homeowner purchased her home two years ago and immediately started noticing it starting to settle towards the front porch. She just had a new baby and wanted the sell the home within the next 5 years to get into a better school district. She wanted to make sure the warranty was transferable so she could get full value for the home. She asked around to friends and family of who she should call, and Thrasher was the highest recommended. She gave us a call, and System Design Specialist Jason Kaufold, came out to meet with them. Jason found the porch was settling away from the home due to having a separate foundation type. He proposed we take care of them by installing helical piers to permanently stabilize the front porch area. She loved this solution, so we sent out our installation team. She was so glad we were able to provide her with a lasting solution. There is no doubt she has the peace of mind she needs now, and when it comes time to sell!

Garage Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

This homeowner loved taking care of his cars. He wanted to keep them in the best shape possible, but his concrete in his garage was becoming an issue. He was noticing over time that when he would back up his cars it would start to scrape. He knew of Thrashers reputation of fixing these types of concrete issues, so he gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Daniel Capul, came out to meet with them. Daniel surveyed the area of what would need to fixed and went back to the homeowner. He explained that the driveway was starting to settle due to washout under the slabs. This was not giving the concrete enough support and it was causing the concrete to sink. Daniel proposed we use our Concrete Protection System, including Polylevel to lift, level, and stabilize the concrete back into place and NexusPro to seal the joints to prevent washout from happening again. The homeowner loved this solution and we sent out our installation team. There is no doubt this homeowner is not worried about scrapping up his cars anymore!

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

This customer had just bought a new home in an area to move closer to his family. He noticed little things around the house that he wanted to get fixed before they turned into a bigger problem later on. One of those things was the cracks in the driveway and sidewalk around his home. He called Thrasher because his parent had used us in the past and knew that we could help with his issues.

Our crew came out and noticed that the fill soil around the home had been eroding and creating voids underneath the concrete causing the cracks in the driveway and sidewalk.  The team used our PolyFoam to pump underneath to fill the void and lift the concrete, giving the concrete more support and preventing future cracks. We then used NexusPro to seal the joints and cracks to prevent water from getting under the concrete again and prevent these voids from forming.

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

This customer contacted us wanting to repair concrete around his pool, for him and his grandkids to enjoy during the summer. The area around the pool had settled leaving cracks and uneven surfaces. Soil washout causes concrete settlement in Wichita, KS

The homeowners wanted to stop water from pooling on their back sidewalk. They feared it causing future foundation issues and it looked bad.

They chose Thrasher due to our thorough inspection and ability to break the project into multiple options.

Soil has washed out from their sidewalk and caused it to sink and settle. We were able to save their sinking concrete with Polylevel foam and nexus pro joint sealant to seal up their cracks and joints.

Back Patio Repair in Wichita, KS

This homeowner has some slanted and settled concrete on his back patio. He wanted to make sure the deck would not collapse. He had family and friends who had Thrasher systems in their home, and heard great things. He gave us a call and System Design Specialist, AJ LaVoie, came out to meet with him. AJ noticed the soil under the concrete slabs at the patio and deck had been washed out over time, causing the sinking. AJ went to the homeowner and proposed we use a combination of Polylevel foam and NexusPro joint and crack sealant to loft and protect the slabs from having issues again in the future. The homeowner was excited for this solution, and we sent out our installation team! He was very happy with the end results, and there is no doubt his deck will not be collapsing any time soon.

Moisture Control in Wichita, KS

This homeowner had some Thrasher products installed in her already, and during our Annual Maintenance check, it was discovered that her home had a lot of water in the crawlspace. This was causing high humidity, as well as mold growth on the floor joints. This was effecting the SmartJacks Supports in the crawlspace holding up the sagging floors by causing settlement of the soil that they sit on. There was a lot of cracking along the crawlspace foundation wall, which is showing movement of the foundation as well as letting more water in. Brad Metzger, Service Tech, was out for this appointment when he found these issues. The homeowner was unaware of the issues taking place in her crawlspace, right beneath her feet. When discussing what was found during the service, she was compelled to look into the crawlspace and see with her own eyes how bad the problem was. Brad proposed encapsulation of the crawlspace with a perimeter drain lines attaching to the sump pump in the crawlspace. This would discharge the water outside of the home at a safe distance. Brad also proposed burying downspouts around the home to get that water away from the foundation. This homeowner was happy to have Thrasher help, and there is no doubt she has the peace of mind she needed.

Family Home Foundation Repair in Wichita, KS

This homeowner had lived in this home ever since he was born. It is a family home that has been passed down through the last couple generations. The add-on in the back of the home had started to settle more and more to point where it was affecting the house. Cracks on the walls started to form and the floors were falls in as well. He called Thrasher, and one of our System Design Specialists, Sheldon Sharp, came out to meet him. Sheldon did an inspection, and determined poor drainage from the beginning and throughout the years had gotten water down underneath the foundation and caused voids under the stem of the wall. This started to settle and crack which made the add-on addition pull off of the house. Sheldon proposed we do Piers all around the outside of the foundation to lift the add-on up and make it more even. This would also help so no other supporting walls would pull down. This homeowner cared so much about his home and was super impressed with the work we did for him. There is no doubt that this home will continue to be passed on for generations to come!

Concrete Repair in Wichita, KS

Just within a year of moving in, this homeowner noticed voids and cracking on the walkway. He was very concern about critters getting in there and also what it could do as far as damage of pulling from the stoop or the foundation wall. He decided to call Thrasher because warranties are a big deal to him. He knew Thrasher was a company with great warranties and techs to stand behind the work. One of our System Design Specialists, Sheldon Sharp, went out to meet this homeowner. After Sheldon did his inspection, he found that after years of gutters and downspouts not being pushed away from the home, lots of erosion was caused underneath the front steps and walkway. This was causing it to settle down and making it a tripping hazard. Sheldon proposed we use our PolyLevel to lift and level the walkway. The poly would be injected under the concrete to fill the void so water does not get into the foundation. Sheldon also proposed to use our NexusPro to fill in the cracks. This homeowner was so happy he chose a profession company that was able to get out there fast and do the job great!

Water in Our Basement in Wichita, KS

Danny moved into what will his forever home. As we all do, he wanted to make some changes and start decorating! He knew he would not be able to start renovations until he fixed the water in his basement though. He called onto Thrasher Foundation Repair to help in this situation. He called Thrasher because he knew of our excellent professionalism, products, and training! One of our System Design Specialists, Nate Franson, went out to meet Danny. After doing the inspection of his home, Nate found one of the walls of the home had deflected over an inch. This caused the water sitting outside of the home to find its way into the basement through the cracks and cold joint. Nate proposed Thrasher install our WaterGuard and CleanSpace system to tackle the consist water issue. CleanSpace looks like a plastic certain that goes on the wall to catch any water making its way in. It is a barrier between the wall and the basement. The water will trickle down the CleanSpace and into the WaterGuard. WaterGuard is our draining channel, which will direct the water to a sump pump and out of the home! Nate also proposed that Thrasher install wall anchors. The wall anchors will help stabilize the wall, help prevent any future deflection, and over time can straighten the wall into its right place. Danny loved this idea and we got started right away!  Danny loved how quick and clean the crew was, as well as professional and helpful. During a night of intense rain after our install, Danny's wife woke up and ran to the basement. To their relief, our systems were working perfectly! They could hear the water running through the systems but the basement was as dry as could be! No more lost sleep or damage from water for this couple!

Basement Waterproofing in Wichita, KS

Two weeks into moving into their new home, a weeks worth of rain water had gotten inside Katherine's home and ruined the newly remodeled home. She called Thrasher and System Design Specialist, Josh Brown, met with them to inspect this issue. The water had been coming from the cold joints within the walls and from under the floor. The carpets were soaked and a smell began to take over. Katherine wanted to make sure she does not have to deal with any water issues ever again in their forever home. We installed Interior Perimeter WaterGuard drain lines with CleanSpace on walls, all connecting to two TripleSafe Sump Pumps.

CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic shield, directing the water intrusion into our WaterGuard drainage system, which flows to the TripleSafe sump pump. This ensures the water can be eliminated from the home at a safe distance, making sure your finished or unfinished basement stays dry.

There's no doubt Katherine can now enjoy a safe and dry basement in her forever home.

Wall Crack Repair in Wichita, KS

Twin Oaks Mobile Home Community has storm shelters for their community members. In these storm shelters, the walls were cracking and unsafe for residents during a storm. After considering options for a year, they decided to move forward with us.

We sent System Design Specialist Tobias Conrady to discuss out foundation repair options and coordinate with their corporate officers and 3rd party engineering firm for the best solution. After discussion with these groups, Tobias sent our team to install Geo-lock Anchors to anchor the wall back and secure the structure of the storm shelters. Our team utilized roughly 68 anchors along four walls, measuring approximately 96 feet.

The Twin Oaks Mobile Home Community was very happy with our communication and how easily the process was to get proposals and options for their problem.

Basement Waterproofing in Bel Aire, KS

Like many homeowners, John B. In Bel Air, Kansas uses his basement not only for storage, but also as an office. He is a composer and musician, and has a collection of music books and vintage music compositions that he takes great pride in. Unfortunately, water was finding its way into John’s basement, where it could destroy his books and documents, and make the the space unsuitable for working. He had perviously worked with a company in the Basement Systems network that Thrasher is also a member of, and had first hand experience with the quality and effectiveness of the solutions we use, so he gave us a chance to inspect his home and propose a solution along with other companies. In the end, John chose Thrasher because of our professionalism, warranty, process and our reputation.

During our inspection, we identified that water was getting into the basement through the cold joints and floor. To divert water up and out of the basement while keeping the area clean and dry, we installed our WaterGuard drainage system, as well as our premium TripleSafe sump pump. Water from the sump pump was then routed out of the home, through an IceGuard to prevent discharge issues during freezing temperatures, and then away from the home via a buried discharge line. Additionally, we installed CleanSpace vapor barrier along the basement walls to divert moisture from the walls into the drainage system, making the space dry and suitable for finishing.

In the end John was excited to get his living space back and to put his basement back in order. One thing that stood out to John was the thoroughness of our inspection, explanation of the issue and walk through of our proposed solution.
