BBB Integrity Awards Honor Thrasher and Other Local Businesses For Ethical Business Practices

OMAHA, Neb. - October 10, 2018

The vision of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is "an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers can trust each other." In this spirit, BBB's Foundation is pleased to conduct an annual awards program to gain public recognition for organizations that go "above and beyond" in serving all of their stakeholders and their community.

"BBB's Integrity Awards are designed to promote not only the importance of ethical business practices, but also the willingness and efforts made by outstanding businesses and charities that demonstrate a solid commitment to marketplace trust," explained BBB President Jim Hegarty. "Being a winner of this prestigious award indicates that the organization not only believes in the high standards promoted by BBB, but also consistently acts on them and continuously integrates them into daily practices."

The 2018 Award Winners were selected by independent panels of judges representing businesses and academic and charitable organizations in metro Omaha. They were honored on Tuesday, October 9th at BBB's 23rd Integrity Awards Luncheon held at the Embassy Suites Omaha - La Vista Conference Center. In the small for-profit business categories, the following companies received BBB Integrity Awards: Travel With Barb (1-4 employees); Royalty Roofing & Renovations (5-10 Employees) and Xcel Roofing (11-24 employees). In the category for charities with fewer than 24 employees, the award was presented to Chariots4Hope.

In the large for-profit business categories, the companies awarded were: Makovicka Physical Therapy and OBI Creative (25-99 employees); Eyman Plumbing, Heating & Air (100-249 employees); Thrasher (250-499 employees) and NMC, Inc. (500+ employees). There were two charities with more than 25 employees that received a BBB Integrity Award: Community Alliance and OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc.

Each organization received a crystal flame - a symbol that that they are lighting the way for ethical business practices in our community.

The judges felt that other organizations that submitted applications were worthy of recognition too. Therefore, those also demonstrating that they placed a high priority on honesty and integrity in the work place were recognized with "Silver Awards of Distinction" for significant commitment to ethical business practices and a "Bronze Award of Merit" for exemplifying the values of the BBB. They also serve as ambassadors of trust in the marketplace.

The "Silver Award of Distinction" recipients were: Bridges Trust, Merchants Credit Adjusters, Inc. and Medical Solutions. PromiseShip, The New Nebraska Families Collaborative received a Silver Award in the category for charities with 25 or more employees. Seldin Company was presented with a "Bronze Award of Merit."

Hegarty stated, "BBB is pleased honor these organizations. In today's challenging economic climate and complex world, honesty and integrity are more important than ever. Integrity Award Winners represent what is best about businesses in this Omaha - they have solid business practices, based on a commitment to serve their customers with the highest standard of ethics. They have built successful companies because of the trust that has been established, and these Awards recognize their leadership in Omaha."
